Varanasi (23-30/8/2006)
Recommendation for a restaurant in Varansi: (close to the main Ghat, between Asi and Chowk St.): Phulwari RestaurantArriving to Varansi, I prepared myself for spending my time there alone (and I actually searched for that). However, on my first Varansi- morning I met Zohar, and had such a great time with her, that I realized it was a fair price for my freedom/ loneliness.. I hanged out with Zohar the whole 6-7 days in the city.
The first thing we did is to try to find a nice place to sleep, with a ganga view (I couldn’t give that up after my wonderful room in Rishikesh). We spent the whole first day searching for a place, while getting to know the old city and it’s local hustlers. Poor Zohar drugged along after a hole night without sleep.
The pictures that you see here are from our hotel roof-top. It was a haven from the crowded and narrow and at first threatening streets of Varanasi. The last picture is from our room. We indeed managed to have a ganga-view room, but we had to keep the lattice closed all the time, to protect ourselves from the greedy Monkeys.
